Guest blog from Cakes, Corks and Kids

Style or No Style
As I approach 30 I'm beginning to question my clothing choices. Is it still acceptable to wear leggings in public? Are dirty, white Vans only for grubby teens? Should I be wearing chunky statement jewellery? Is clashing good or bad nowadays?
I feel like I have a bit of a mummy uniform going on and it's 95% chosen for comfort. That's not how it should be at my age surely? I just can't be bothered with worrying about my outfit. I think that because my day job involves heels, dresses, uncomfortable black trousers and smart tops, I'm a bit reluctant to make the effort when I'm just being mum. (Sorry hubby!)
My weekend wear needs to suit all activities: kneeling on the floor changing nappies, chasing Florence around Tesco, going to the park or meeting friends for lunch. So, to this end, you'll usually find me in jeans or leggings with a slouchy tee and a jumper or cardigan. Is that my style then or is my clothing reflective of someone who has no style whatsoever?
What do all you other 30 something mums wear?
Perhaps I should look at turning 30 as a new leaf, so to speak? Invest in some pieces which will help with the transition from comfy Caroline to cool, casual Caroline.  I had a think about my 'style icons' and the first person who pops into my mind is Victoria Beckham.  I love the boot leg/flare type dark denim jeans, the simple vest tops and the clean lines.  I think her amazing figure helps somewhat.
Now I'm quite capable of getting myself together for a night out and I love getting dressed up and going gung-ho on the make up, so is comfy day attire that bad? I make the effort when required.  I thought, for the purposes of this blog post I'd throw an outfit together and see what people thought, am I a complete lost cause? This is something I'd choose to wear for  perhaps date night or an evening out with the girls...

I've got certain people in my life who are a similar age to me yet they always look grown up and sophisticated. I'm talking blazers, blouses, coordinated ballet pumps and handbags. My handbag is a Pink Lining nappy bag, and will be for the foreseeable, I wonder if Pink Lining do matching pumps?
I took pictures of my outfits for about a week and, as you can see, the theme is comfort. I'd love your opinions on this matter: Should I try to introduce a bit of change or stick with what I'm comfy and confident in?

If you're a mummy perhaps you identify with this too?
Caroline.
