I have a small confession to make, since I ran the London marathon in April I haven't done a single bit of road running. Except for a bit a running on the treadmill on holiday I've done nada. I keep meaning to get out there, but it just hasn't happened yet. I feel shitty about it to be honest. Not to mention feeling my fitness levels slowly melting into oblivion.
But there's nothing like getting some new kit to give me the kick up the bum I need to get out. Well it's always worked in the past anyway. And I do miss it, so this week I'm going to don my new kicks and running shorts courtesy of Sportsshoe.com and get my behind out there even if it's just a quick little run to get my motivation levels back up.
When it comes to running it's really important to make sure you get the right running shoes for how you run. I suggest you go to a shop that has a treadmill with a gait analysis, and find out what type of running shoe you are best suited to and then get them online - you'll get a much better deal. I have a neutral foot strike and struggle a bit with knee pain, so the perfect running shoe for me is the Asics Gel- Cumulus. They fit like a glove therefore I don't see any need in changing. My old ones have all but disintegrated from all my marathon training, so now I've got a brand new pair to get me going.
These are the bad boys that are going to kick start my fitness regime. I didn't go for a brightly coloured pair this time - maybe that reflects how unconfident I'm feeling :/
And now I've told the world (or rather you guys) I have to get myself off that blimming sofa/computer/phone even if it's just one evening this week. Wish me luck guys! Eeeeek
How do you get yourself motivated to exercise? Or are you struggling to get your bum of the sofa too?

I hope your new running kit gives you the boost you need. I'm the same at the moment, I love running but life seems to have taken over! I'm planning to get back to it soon though! Thanks for hosting.

Always love your style!
DeleteGood luck with getting back into running! I love running, but am battling slightly with the weather at the moment - it's so much harder to run in heat! Also, I have no idea how I'm going to run with the school holidays and the kids at home, but I need to get out there as I have a half marathon in September!
ReplyDeleteI knew it's difficult. But we both need to just get out there. Easier said than done. I'm going to have to run in the evening when the kids are off. Or maybe your kids could go on their bikes? I don't know how old your kids are though mine are too young.
