Summer's Top Five Family-Friendly Festivals 2014


I don’t know about you, but I can’t get my daily dose of the Daily Mail online this week (I know, please don’t judge!) or my weekly fashion fix from Grazia without being bombarded with endless photos from Coachella, the LA music festival.  The finest from the fashion, film, music and celebrity world descend upon the deserts just outside La La Land to listen to the latest music 
and basically be beautiful.

Whilst I pore over the pictures and fixate on the latest fashion trends at the festival, I realise that my chances of dancing in the desert with the bold and the beautiful are as likely as dancing with little green men on Mars.  Whilst the crowd at Coachella might not appreciate Coco’s food throwing or disco dancing, here is a list of this summer’s top five family-friendly festivals where she would fit in better than Daisy Lowe at Lovebox…

LATITUDE
When?  17-20th July
Where? Henham Park, Southwold, Suffolk
Line-up? Big names include Damon Albarn, Two Door Cinema Club, Haim and Editors
More info: As previous winners of the ‘Best Family Festival’ Award they are kitted out for kids, hosting a dedicated children’s area and family-friendly campsite


THE BIG FEASTIVAL
When?  29th-31st August
Where? Alex James’ farm in Oxfordshire
Line-up? Fatboy Slim, Kelis and Jamie Cullum
More info: Run by two of celebrity’s most famous family men, Jamie Oliver and Alex James, it is certain this festival with cater for the whole family.  Bringing together music and food and featuring a ‘Little Dudes Den’ for the kids


CORNBURY MUSIC FESTIVAL
When?  4-6th July
Where? The Great Tew Park, Oxfordshire
Line-up? Jools Holland, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Scouting for Girls and Simple Minds
More info: This event has something for everyone, describing itself as a ‘dynamic summer festival disguised as a country fayre’.  Also features a dedicated children’s area


LARMER TREE FESTIVAL
When?  16-20th July
Where? Larmer Tree Gardens, nr Salisbury
Line-up? Tom Jones, Tom Odell and Squeeze
More info: Featuring over 100 bands and performers, a comedy club, free workshops, street theatre, carnival and of course a children’s zone


CAMP BESTIVAL
When? 31st July – 3rd August
Where? Lulworth Castle, Dorset
Line-up? Basement Jaxx, De La Soul and Laura Mvula
More info: A whole raft of entertainment for both adults and kids including appearances from Mr Tumble, performances from Horrible Histories and Ben & Holly



Would love to go with some of the ‘Wanstead set’ (aka the NCT mums and bubbas) to at least one of these festivals – hope to see you there too!
