62 year old model for American Apparel

Is this a beautiful woman? If not why not, because she's not under 20? I have always admired American Apparel's use of realistic models- that is models that are clearly not photoshopped or have soft lighting - they seem to celebrate natural curves and uniqueness. 

Jacky O'Shaughnessy is a 62 year old model from New York. American Apparel posted her image on their instagram accompanied by the caption 'Sexy has no expiration date.'

What do you think of American Apparel's controversial statement? Is it just publicity seeking or is a statement worth making?












I'm loving the (I presume) natural hair colour. 

Here's hoping I look half as good in a few years.

    Oh wow, I'd not seen this before... I bloody LOVE it! And I love her! Definitely worth a statement worth making, whether it's a PR stunt or not - she's amazing!

    It is a statement we should be making and images of all kinds of body types and ages should be seen as the norm.

    It is an awesome idea, but having said that- her body is better than mine and I am 40! I am all for celebrating beauty in all ages, shapes and sizes, so I applaud them for effort, I can't imagine I will look that Smokie' at 60 tho,

    I think we should embrace models of all ages, sizes, ethnicities, abilities or disabilities - and this is a great step in the right direction, whatever the intent of the campaign. Plus, I would love to be in her shape now - let alone at her age lol x

    She's wonderful and I love these pics. Sadly American Apparel make quite a few ads that glamourise sexual abuse against young girls, so I'm not a fan, but this particular set is great.
