Radiant Skin on Long Haul Flights

Pink Lily has landed back in London after a beautiful 7 weeks in Australia.

I have done the horrid 24hr flight back and forth many times over the past few years so just thought i'd share some of my tips to keep your skin looking radiant and feeling great throughout your journey:

Beauty from the inside
* Drink at least 2-3 litres of water before the flight  (If possible, try to have a fresh baby coconut before and after your flight. They are packed full of nutrients, natural electrolytes and amazing for rehydration)
* Drink a 600ml bottle of water approximately every 2 hours you are flying. The hostess's will be more then happy to fill them up
* Try to avoid alcohol and coffee as much as possible as it will dehydrate you even more. If you do fancy a coffee, just make sure you have an extra glass of water.
* Avoid heavy, starchy foods that leave you feeling bloated and uncomfortable. When possible, pre-order a gluten free meal. (My last flight I got steamed fish, veggies, rice crackers, fruit and nuts and breakfast was fruit, organic yogurt, poached eggs, tomato and mushroom. Yum!! )

Beauty from the outside
* Try to minimise the amount of foundation you are wearing until just before you land then mix a drop of moisturiser with your foundation. It will leave your skin looking radiant and feeling fresh.
* Avoid wearing mascara. Many times I have fallen asleep, woken up with black panda eyes. A great reason why lash extensions are great to have while travelling
*Carry a mini tube of hand cream on board and continuously slather your hands. I am in love with the Elizabeth Arden - 8 hour cream
* I find my lips suffer the worst with the lack of moisture in the air. I love Elizabeth Arden 8 hour lip protection as it does as it says, keep your lips protected and smooth for at least  8 hrs. I would continue to smother it on throughout the flight.
*Carry a mini bottle of Hydration mist with you. It is great you brighten your skin and also feels nice and refreshing. Evene or Evian Mist are my favourite
* I don’t know about you but while my skin dries up, my hair gets limp and greasy after 24 hours.  That’s where dry shampoo works wonders. It’s not exactly going to make you feel clean, but at least you won’t feel as gross.

What is your travel beauty routine?

  1. Handy tips about the water, might need to sit near the loo though!! :-D. I don't drink alchol on board and avoid tea and coffee as they never have decaf, but I usually get off a flight looking like a snake shedding its skin, not a good look!!

    1. Yeah, Definitely drink as much water as possible and moisturise moisturise moisturise. I usually request an isle seat as i'm always up and down but it's good for the blood circulation too. Try these tips and let us know how you go next time you fly x
